As a caregiver, use guidelines, protocols, checklists, mnemonics, art to memorize the key concepts in the medicines. Doctors are tested in this area via CME, board exams, and maintenance of certification (MOC)to keep their know-how up-to-date. Utilization review teams remind them of core measures. However, when it comes to patients, we want them to remember each and every discharge instruction in the last half an hour of the hospital stay and if they ask a question we get impatient. This is a disparity of our health care system. When are we going to learn about "Patience" with Patients.
